Deposit

 


A deposit is the contribution made by the buyer to make up the balance of monies owed, which when added to the mortgage amount equals a properties total purchase price.

A solicitor would normally require the deposit to be paid prior to exchange of contracts. This however would not be the case if the balance of the monies was coming from a linked house sale.
